Case Study - War Child Canada
War Child Canada, an independent charitable organization, works with children all over the world to reduce the effects of poverty, provide an education and to defend and promote child rights.
THE CHALLENGE:
Develop a scalable Internet portal that will allow youth all over the world to post their comments, interact, upload creative work and much more. Integrate the content management system to allow the War Child Canada staff to regularly update the portal and monitor users' activities.
THE OMEGA SHIFT SOLUTION:
Using the most current web development technology, Omega Shift developed a data-driven Internet portal that allows children across the world to:
- Create their own portfolio, which includes a biography, a list of interests, a photo and vital information about their community.
- Upload and share poetry, artwork, essays, photos, and music.
- Speak out and interact with their friends across the globe through discussion boards and chat rooms.
- Create or join existing projects, which is their chance to design, develop and implement a humanitarian initiative in partnership with other members.
THE IMPACT:
The portal was successfully launched with Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Bill Graham and musician Chantal Kreviazuk in attendance and is currently a communications gateway that connects children from 55 counties, creating a global "grassroots" community.
